Vickilyn Reynolds is an American actress and singer. She was born on June 2, 1955, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is known for her roles in movies and TV shows, and for creating a musical about a famous actress.

Early Life and Family

Vickilyn Reynolds grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She went to a performing arts school there. She is also a member of Sigma Gamma Rho, which is a type of college club for women.

Vickilyn and her brother, Ron Richardson, loved watching musicals and movies when they were young. Ron encouraged her to become an artist instead of a nurse. He later became a successful actor himself. In 1985, he won a Tony Award for his role in the musical Big River. Their older brother, W. Franklyn Richardson, became a pastor.

Their father worked in the meat industry. Their mother ran a beauty salon from their home for 30 years.

Acting and Singing Career

Vickilyn Reynolds started her TV career in 1987 on the show Kate & Allie. The next year, 1988, she appeared in two movies: Crossing Delancey and I'm Gonna Git You Sucka. Many people remember her as Joann, Smokey's mom, in the 1995 movie Friday.

In 1990, she joined the cast of a new CBS TV series called Sugar and Spice. This show was about two sisters who lived together and raised two orphaned teenagers.

Vickilyn also performed on stage. In 1998, she was in a show called Bring in ‘Da Noise, Bring in ‘Da Funk. She also performed in the Broadway show Smoky Joe's Cafe. In 1999, she had her own special singing show in Hollywood.

In 2000, she acted in a play called The Old Settler in Palo Alto, California. In 2003, she was in a television commercial for the Saturn Corporation car company.

More recently, Vickilyn appeared on the TV show American Dreams in an episode called "Beyond the Wire". Her last TV appearance was in 2005, when she played a talk show host in the movie When Do We Eat?. She also appeared on the TV show 227.

Vickilyn Reynolds also writes her own shows. She wrote the music and words for Hattie McDaniel: What I Need You to Know. She also starred in this musical, playing the role of Hattie McDaniel. Hattie McDaniel was a very important actress because she was the first African-American to win an Oscar. This musical was performed in many theaters across the United States between 2008 and 2018. Some of these places included New York, Santa Monica, and San Francisco.
