Victorino Abente y Lago (born June 2, 1846, in Muxía, Spain – died December 22, 1935, in Asunción, Paraguay) was a famous poet from Paraguay. He moved to Paraguay when he was 22 years old, in March 1869. This was a difficult time for the country because the Paraguayan War (1864–1870) had just ended. Even though he was from Spain, Victorino Abente y Lago truly connected with Paraguay. He dedicated his life and his writing to his new home.
