The Story of Vida
How Vida Got Its Name
A long time ago, in 1898, a post office opened in Vida. A post office is where mail is sent and received. The person in charge of this first post office, called the postmaster, decided to name the community after a local girl who lived nearby. This post office stayed open for many years, until 1977.
Vida Today
Because Vida is a small, unincorporated community, it has not been counted in the official U.S. Census. This means we don't have exact numbers for how many people live there. Today, Vida does not have its own post office. Instead, people in Vida get their mail from the post office in the nearby town of Newburg, Missouri.
