Where is Vidul Glacier?

Vidul Glacier is located in a specific part of Antarctica. You can find its center at 77°48′10″S 86°10′40″W / 77.80278°S 86.17778°W / -77.80278; -86.17778. It sits to the northwest of another glacier called Skaklya Glacier. It's also southwest of the middle part of Newcomer Glacier.

The glacier collects melted ice and snow from the northern slopes of Mount Reimer. It also drains the eastern slopes of Mount Dawson. From there, it flows northwards. Finally, it joins the Newcomer Glacier to the west of Mount Warren in an area known as Gromshin Heights. The United States mapped this area in 1961.

How Did Vidul Glacier Get its Name?

Many places in Antarctica are named after important people or places. Vidul Glacier is named after a brave Bulgarian leader. His name was Vidul Voyvoda, also known as Vidul Vidulov. He lived from 1777 to 1833 and was known as a rebel leader. This means he was a person who fought against unfair rules or governments in his time.
