Frances Antony Cyril Raja, known as Vijay Antony, was born on July 24, 1975. He is an Indian artist who does many things in movies, especially in Tamil cinema. He is a music composer, a singer who sings for actors (called a playback singer), an actor, a film editor, a lyricist (who writes song words), an audio engineer, a film producer, and a director.
He started his career as a music composer in 2005 with the film Sukran. Later, he began acting in 2012 with the movie Naan. He is well-known for his roles in exciting action movies like Salim (2014) and Pichaikkaran (2016).

Early Life
Vijay Antony was born in Nagercoil, which is in the Kanyakumari District. When he was seven years old, his father passed away. At that time, his sister was four years old.

Music Composing
Vijay Antony began his journey as a music composer with the film Sukran in 2005. He was recognized for his music in the 2007 film Naan Avan Illai.
His songs for the 2008 movie Kadhalil Vizhunthen became very popular. One song, Nakka Mukka, was a huge hit. Vijay Antony made history by becoming the first Indian music director to win a Cannes Golden Lion award for "Nakka Mukka." This award was for the best commercial music. The song was even played at the 2011 Cricket World Cup!
In 2009, Antony composed music for several Tamil films. These included A Aa E Ee, TN 07 AL 4777, Mariyadhai, Ninaithale Inikkum, and Vettaikaaran.
He continued to compose music for many Tamil films in the early 2010s. Some of these were Aval Peyar Thamizharasi, Uthama Puthiran, Vedi, and Velayudham.
Vijay Antony also composed music for films in other languages. He made his debut in Telugu cinema with Mahatma (2009) and in Kannada cinema with Buddhivantha (2007). He has also composed music for most of the films he has acted in himself.
Acting Roles
Vijay Antony started acting in the crime thriller Naan in 2012, where he played the main character. His next movie as an actor was Salim (2014), which was an action thriller and a follow-up to Naan. He also composed the music for Salim.
In 2015, he starred in the romantic comedy India Pakistan. This was his first acting role where he was not also the music director. In 2016, he chose to act in the action thriller Pichaikkaran. This movie was very successful and made a lot of money. The Telugu version, Bichagadu, was even more popular. His next film was Saithan, an action thriller.
In 2017, he appeared in the political action thriller Yaman. This movie received good reviews. His next film that year, Annadurai, was an action drama. In 2018, he starred in Kaali, an action film, and Thimiru Pudichavan, another action movie. In 2019, he acted in Kolaigaran, an action thriller that received very positive reviews.
Vijay Antony also became a director with the film Pichaikkaran 2 in 2023. He played a romantic lead role in the 2024 film Romeo.
Personal Life
Vijay Antony is married to Fatima Vijay Antony. They have two daughters named Meera and Lara. Fatima has been the producer for many of his films through Vijay Antony Film Corporation. For the film Romeo (2024), his daughter Meera was credited as the producer.
Vijay Antony has a famous great-grandfather named Samuel Vedanayagam Pillai. He was a Tamil poet, writer, and social worker. He is known for writing Prathapa Mudaliar Charithram, which is considered the first modern Tamil novel. This novel showed his ideas about women's freedom and education.
