Viktor Rossi was born on October 31, 1968. He is a Swiss politician and a civil servant. He is a member of the Green Liberal Party.
On May 1, 2019, he became the Vice-Chancellor of Switzerland. Later, on December 13, 2023, he was chosen to be the Federal Chancellor of Switzerland. He officially started this important job on January 1, 2024. He took over from Walter Thurnherr.

About Viktor Rossi
Early Life and School
Viktor Rossi grew up and went to school in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. From 1984 to 1987, he learned to be a cook. After that, he studied economics at a private school called Humboldtianum in Bern.
In 1996, he earned a teaching degree in Law and Economics from Bern University. This helped him prepare for his future career.
His Career Journey
After finishing university, Viktor Rossi started teaching. He taught business at a commercial school in Biel. In 1999, he became the leader of that school.
He also helped lead a group of commercial school principals in the Canton Bern. He was the vice-president from 2004 to 2009, and then the president in 2009. In 2015, he continued his studies and earned a special diploma in Law from Bern University.
Working for the Government
In October 2010, Viktor Rossi joined the Federal Chancellery of Switzerland. This is an important part of the Swiss government. He was in charge of managing records and logistics.
In 2015, he worked on a big computer project for the Federal Chancellor, Walter Thurnherr. In December 2018, the Federal Council chose him to be the Vice-Chancellor of Switzerland.
He started as Vice-Chancellor on May 1, 2019. In this role, he helped manage the daily work of the Federal Council.
Becoming the Chancellor
At the end of 2023, Viktor Rossi decided to run for the top job: Chancellor of the Confederation. He was elected on December 13, 2023. His predecessor, Jörg De Bernardi, temporarily took over his old Vice-Chancellor role.
Personal Life
Viktor Rossi speaks both German and Italian, which are two of Switzerland's official languages. He is married and has two children.
