Viktor Rossi was born on October 31, 1968. He is an important Swiss politician and civil servant. He belongs to the Green Liberal Party. Mr. Rossi became the Vice-Chancellor of Switzerland on May 1, 2019. Later, on December 13, 2023, he was chosen to be the Federal Chancellor of Switzerland. He officially started this big job on January 1, 2024, taking over from Walter Thurnherr.

Who is Viktor Rossi?
Early Life and Education
Viktor Rossi grew up in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. He went to primary and secondary school there. From 1984 to 1987, he learned to be a cook. After that, he earned a special diploma in economics. This was at the Private school Humboldtianum in Bern. In 1996, he finished his studies at Bern University. He earned a teacher's degree in Law and Economics.
Starting His Career
After university, Mr. Rossi began teaching. He taught Trade at a commercial school in Biel. By 1999, he became the leader of that school. He also helped guide other commercial schools in the Canton Bern. He was vice-president of their rectors' conference from 2004 to 2009. Then, in 2009, he became their president. In 2015, he continued his education. He completed a special diploma in Law at Bern University.
Joining the Government
In October 2010, Viktor Rossi started working for the Federal Chancellery of Switzerland. This is a key part of the Swiss government. He was in charge of managing records and logistics. In 2015, he helped with a big computer project called GENOVA. He worked as a special helper for the Federal Chancellor, Walter Thurnherr.
Becoming Vice-Chancellor and Chancellor
In December 2018, the Federal Council chose Mr. Rossi to be the Vice-Chancellor of Switzerland. He started this role on May 1, 2019. In this job, he helped manage the daily work of the Federal Council.
At the end of 2023, he decided to run for the top job. This was to become the Chancellor of the Confederation. He was elected on December 13, 2023. His predecessor, Jörg De Bernardi, temporarily took over his old Vice-Chancellor role.
Personal Life
Viktor Rossi speaks both German and Italian fluently. He is married and has two children.
