Viktor Tsyhankov's Football Journey
Playing for Dynamo Kyiv
Viktor Tsyhankov was born in Nahariya, Israel. His father, Vitalii Tsygankov, was also a football player. Viktor moved to Ukraine when he was very young. He learned to play football at the Nyva Vinnytsia and Dynamo Kyiv youth academies. His first coach was Mykola Zahoruyko.
He played his first game in the Ukrainian Premier League for Dynamo Kyiv on 14 August 2016. This match was against FC Stal Kamianske. During the 2018–19 season, Viktor was named the best player of the month three times. These months were March 2018, December 2018, and April 2019.
Moving to Girona
On 17 January 2023, Tsyhankov joined La Liga team Girona. He signed a contract with the Spanish club that will last until June 2027. Reports say that Girona paid about €5 million for him. Also, Dynamo Kyiv will get 50% of any future transfer fee if Girona sells him.
Playing for His Country
Viktor Tsyhankov was first asked to join the main Ukraine squad in October 2016. This was for 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying games against Turkey and Kosovo. However, he did not play in those matches. He made his first game for Ukraine in a World Cup qualifying match against Finland. He came into the game in the 83rd minute that November.
In June 2021, he was chosen as one of 26 players to play for Ukraine in the UEFA Euro 2020 tournament.
In May 2024, he was again chosen to be on the list of 26 players for the UEFA Euro 2024 tournament.
