Viktoria Rebensburg (born 4 October 1989) is a German former alpine ski racer. She was a top athlete in the World Cup and won a gold medal at the 2010 Olympic Games. She was born in Tegernsee, Bavaria, Germany.

Viktoria was especially good at the Giant slalom event. She won three World Cup season titles in this discipline. She also competed in super-G and downhill races.

Viktoria's Skiing Journey

Viktoria Rebensburg started her World Cup career when she was 17 years old. She quickly became known for her strong performances.

Olympic Success

At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada, Viktoria achieved something amazing. She won the gold medal in the giant slalom. This was her very first big win in international competitions! Before this, her best result was a second-place finish in a World Cup race.

She also won a bronze medal in the giant slalom at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. This showed her consistent skill at the highest level.

World Cup Achievements

After her Olympic gold, Viktoria continued to shine.

  • In October 2010, she won her first World Cup race in Austria.
  • During the 2011 season, she won two more giant slalom races. She ended up winning the overall giant slalom title for that season.
  • She defended her giant slalom title in the 2012 season, winning five races in total (four giant slalom and one super-G).
  • She won her third giant slalom season title in 2018.

Viktoria had a total of 19 World Cup wins throughout her career:

  • 14 wins in Giant slalom
  • 4 wins in Super-G
  • 1 win in downhill

She also reached the podium (finished in the top three) 49 times in World Cup races.

World Championship Medals

Viktoria also earned two silver medals at the World Championships, both in the giant slalom:

  • 2015 in Vail/Beaver Creek, USA
  • 2019 in Åre, Sweden

Junior World Titles

Before her senior career, Viktoria was also very successful as a junior skier. She won three gold medals at the Junior World Championships:

  • Two gold medals in Super-G (2008 and 2009)
  • One gold medal in Giant Slalom (2009)

Retirement

Viktoria Rebensburg announced her retirement from alpine skiing on 1 September 2020. She decided to retire because she was having trouble coming back from a recent injury. She was 30 years old when she retired.
