Villalba de Rioja is a small town, also called a municipality, in a part of Spain called La Rioja. It sits on the southern side of the Obarenes mountains. This town is right next to the areas of Alava and Burgos. Haro, another town, is just 5 kilometers away. A small stream called Esperamalo flows through Villalba de Rioja and eventually joins the big Ebro River. The town covers about 8.96 square kilometers and in 2011, around 150 people lived there.

Historic Buildings and Monuments
Ruiz del Castillo Palace House
This old house is sometimes called "Traspalacio." It is about 130 meters east of the main town center. In the oldest part of this house, which is a cellar, Pedro del Castillo was born in 1521. He later went on to start the city of Mendoza in Argentina in 1561.
Cirac Palace House
This is another grand old house. It used to belong to a noble family known as the Counts of Cirac and Castillofiel.

Memorial to Alvaro Fernandez
There is a special monument here that remembers a cyclist named Alvaro Fernandez. On the monument, you can read some lines from a poem by Maria Piedad Mendizabal. It starts with: "If you are lucky one day walking around my Rioja ..."

- June 26 and 27: These days are for the celebrations in honor of San Pelayo. Since these dates are close to the Haro Wine Festival, people from Villalba de Rioja also join in the famous Battle of Wine. After the Battle of Wine, they have lunch in Valtracones before heading back to Haro.
- Sunday after September 8: This is when they honor their special patron saint, Nuestra Señora la Virgen de los Remedios. The main day for Nuestra Señora de Haro de la Vega is September 8.
