Vils is a small town in Austria. It is located in the Reutte area, which is part of the Tyrol state. Vils is known for its long history of making musical instruments.
For many generations, skilled craftspeople called luthiers lived here. A luthier is someone who builds or repairs string instruments like violins and guitars. One very famous luthier from Vils was Dominicus Rief. You can even see some of his amazing work in the local museum!
Where is Vils Located?
Vils is right on the border with Germany, next to the region of Bavaria. A river called the Vils River flows through the town. Soon after it leaves Vils, this river joins a larger river known as the Lech.
