Viola is a small place in the state of Missouri, in the United States. It's not a city or a town with its own government, but rather an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that are part of a larger county, rather than having their own mayor or city council. Viola is special because it sits right on the border between two counties: Barry County and Stone County.
About Viola
Viola is located along Route 39. It's also very close to Table Rock Lake, which is a popular spot for outdoor activities. The community is nestled between two parts of the lake: the Kings River arm to the west and the main White River part to the north. This makes Viola a scenic place, surrounded by water and nature.
Location and Surroundings
A part of Viola that is in Stone County is considered part of the larger area around Branson, Missouri. This area is known as the Branson Micropolitan Statistical Area. A "micropolitan area" is like a smaller version of a big city area. It includes a main town (like Branson) and the smaller communities around it that are connected.
How Viola Got Its Name
Viola has a bit of history. A post office was opened in the Barry County part of Viola way back in 1893. It served the community for many years, until 1974. The name "Viola" was given to the community after a local girl, but her exact identity is not known today.
