Violeta Bulc (born on January 24, 1964) is a politician from Slovenia. She held an important job as the European Commissioner for Transport from 2014 to 2019. In this role, she helped manage transportation rules and projects across many European countries.

Early Life and Education
Violeta Bulc studied computer science and informatics at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia. She also earned a master's degree in information technology from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, USA.
After her studies, she worked for DHL from 1991 to 1994. There, she focused on how well large computer networks performed. In 1994, she returned to Slovenia. She worked for Telekom Slovenia, first managing traffic for big organizations and then leading the business for other phone companies. From 1999 to 2000, she was a vice-president at Telemach, a major telecommunications company. Later, from 2000 to 2014, she was the CEO of Vibacom, a company that helped businesses with new ideas and plans.
Political Career
Violeta Bulc started her political journey in Slovenia in 2013. She joined forces with Miro Cerar and became the head of the program committee for his political party.
She served as a minister in the Slovenian government from September 19, 2014, to November 1, 2014. During this time, she was responsible for development, big projects, and making sure different parts of the country worked well together. She was also the Deputy Prime Minister.
In 2019, she was part of a group called "Team Europe." This team, led by Margrethe Vestager, was chosen by the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Party. They worked to promote pro-European and liberal ideas before the 2019 European Parliament election.
European Commissioner Role
On October 10, 2014, the Slovenian government nominated Violeta Bulc to become a European Commissioner. This is a very important position in the European Union. She replaced Alenka Bratušek in this role.
Before taking on the job, she had a hearing in front of the European Parliament's Committee on Transport and Tourism. After answering their questions, she was officially given the transport portfolio. This meant she was in charge of all transport-related matters for the European Union.
Other Activities
In 2022, Violeta Bulc joined the board of the Joint European Disruptive Initiative. This organization works on new and innovative technologies in Europe.
