Violeta Bulc (born on January 24, 1964) is a politician from Slovenia. She served as the European Commissioner for Transport from 2014 to 2019. This important role meant she was in charge of transport policies for the entire European Union.

Early Life and Education
Violeta Bulc studied computer science and informatics at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia. She then earned a master's degree in information technology from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, USA.
After her studies, she worked for DHL in California from 1991 to 1994. There, she focused on how well computer networks worked. In 1994, she returned to Slovenia. She worked for Telekom Slovenia, first as a manager and then as a director until 1999. From 1999 to 2000, she was the vice-president of Telemach, a big company that provides phone and internet services. Later, from 2000 to 2014, she was the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of a company called Vibacom.
Political Career
Violeta Bulc started her political journey in Slovenia in 2013. She joined a political group with Miro Cerar. She was chosen to lead the program committee for the Miro Cerar Party.
From September 19, 2014, to November 1, 2014, she served as a minister in the Slovenian government. She was a minister without a specific department, focusing on development and important projects. During this time, she was also the Deputy Prime Minister of Slovenia.
In 2019, she was part of "Team Europe." This group was chosen by the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Party to lead their campaign for the 2019 European Parliament election. Their goal was to promote a strong and united European Union.
European Commissioner for Transport
On October 10, 2014, the Slovenian government nominated Violeta Bulc to become a European Commissioner. She was chosen to replace Alenka Bratušek in the Juncker Commission.
After a special hearing with the European Parliament, Bulc was given the important job of European Commissioner for Transport. This role meant she was responsible for all transport-related matters across the European Union.
Other Activities
In 2022, Violeta Bulc joined the board of the Joint European Disruptive Initiative. This organization works on new and innovative technologies.
