- Vipera eriwanensis ebneri Knoepffler & Sochurek, 1955
- Vipera eriwanensis eriwanensis (Reuss, 1933)
Where They Live
The Alburzi viper is found in several countries. You can find it in Armenia. It also lives in northwestern Iran. Lastly, it is present in northeastern Turkey.
Their Home Environment
Alburzi vipers prefer certain places to live. Their natural habitat is rocky areas. These areas are usually covered in grassland. They live at high altitudes, from about 1,000 to 3,000 meters (3,300 to 9,800 feet) above sea level.
How They Reproduce
The Alburzi viper gives birth to live young. This means they are ovoviviparous. The eggs hatch inside the mother's body. A mother viper can have as many as ten babies at one time.
Name Origin
The name ebneri for one of the subspecies has a special meaning. It honors an Austrian scientist named species:Richard Ebner. He was an entomologist, someone who studies insects.
