Virgie is a small community in Pike County, Kentucky, United States. It is known as a Census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area that looks like a town but isn't officially set up as one. Virgie is located along Kentucky Route 1469.
The community's post office first opened on April 3, 1890. It was originally called Clintwood. Later, it was renamed "Virgie" after the daughter of a local person named W.O.B. Ratliff. He was a lawyer and sold lumber in nearby Pikeville.
According to the 2020 United States census, 274 people live in Virgie. Recently, Virgie has become more well-known because of a song. The musician Tyler Childers wrote a song called "Follow you to Virgie," which is set in this community.
