Virgil is a small village located in Kane County, Illinois, in the United States. It is part of Virgil Township. The village officially became a recognized community on November 6, 1990. In 2010, about 329 people lived there.
History of Virgil
Virgil has an interesting past. It was settled way back in 1836. One notable event happened in 2010. On February 10, 2010, a small earthquake had its starting point, or epicenter, right in Virgil.
Geography of Virgil
Virgil is found in the western part of Kane County. A main road, Illinois Route 64, goes right through the middle of the village. This road can take you about 12 miles (19 km) east to St. Charles. If you go west for about 8 miles (13 km), you will reach Sycamore.
The village covers a total area of about 2.11 square miles (5.46 square kilometers). All of this area is land. There are no large bodies of water within the village limits.
