Viscount biscuits are a classic British biscuit. They have a round biscuit base. On top, there is a creamy mint or orange flavor. A layer of milk chocolate covers the whole biscuit. These popular treats are made by Burton's Foods.

What Are Viscount Biscuits?

Viscount biscuits are well-known in the UK. Each biscuit has three main parts. First, there is a crunchy biscuit at the bottom. Second, a smooth, creamy filling sits on the biscuit. This filling can be mint or orange flavored. Finally, the entire biscuit is covered in a delicious layer of milk chocolate.

The Look and Flavors

Viscount biscuits come in shiny foil wrappers. The color of the wrapper tells you the flavor inside. Mint biscuits are wrapped in green foil. For a while, orange-flavored biscuits were sold in orange wrappers. However, the orange flavor is no longer made. The word Viscount is always printed clearly on the wrapper.

A New Look for Viscounts

In April 2005, Viscount biscuits got a new design. This change was made to make them look more appealing. The company, Burton's Foods, wanted to attract more adult buyers. A design company called Beswick Design helped with this new look.

As part of the redesign, a smaller version of the Viscount biscuit was also launched. These mini Viscounts come in a tub. These tubs are similar to those used for ice cream. Even with the new design, the colored wrappers for the different flavors stayed the same.

Other Viscount Treats

For a few years in the 1990s, you could find double chocolate Viscount biscuits. These had a chocolate cream filling inside. They were sold in a purple foil wrapper.

In November 2010, Burton's Foods launched a new product. They were called Cadbury Festives. These biscuits were very much like Viscount biscuits. The main difference was that they used Cadbury Chocolate for the coating. They were part of the Cadbury Christmas Biscuits range.

Burton's customer services department confirmed in 2014 that they no longer make the orange-flavor Viscount biscuits.
