Vispa
The Vispa river flows towards the Rhône in Visp.

The Vispa is a river located in the Valais canton of Switzerland. This river is quite important, as it even gives its name to the nearby city of Visp.

Where the Vispa Begins

The Vispa river starts when two smaller rivers meet. These two rivers are the Matter Vispa and the Saaser Vispa. They join together near a place called Stalden.

The Matter Vispa

The Matter Vispa flows through a beautiful area known as the Mattertal valley. This valley is famous for its stunning mountain views.

The Saaser Vispa

The Saaser Vispa comes from the Saastal valley. Both of these valleys are known for their natural beauty and are popular spots for visitors.

The Journey of the Vispa

After the Matter Vispa and Saaser Vispa join, the Vispa river flows for about 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) through the Vispertal valley. This valley is a scenic route for the river. The Vispa then continues its journey until it reaches the larger Rhône river. It flows into the Rhône close to the city of Visp.

How Long is the Vispa?

The total length of the Vispa river, including its main source rivers, is about 84 kilometres (52 mi). This makes it a significant waterway in the Valais region.
