Vladimiro Selva was born on 19 October 1970 in the historic country of San Marino. Growing up in this small European republic, he developed a strong interest in science and building things.

When he was older, he went to study at the famous University of Bologna in neighboring Italy. There, he studied civil engineering, which is the science of designing bridges, roads, and buildings. After completing his degree, he worked as an engineer and public employee before entering national leadership.

Political Career and Service to San Marino

Selva entered public life in 2005 as a member of the Party of Socialists and Democrats. He wanted to help improve public services and make life better for the citizens of his hometown and nation.

Joining the National Parliament

He first ran for office during the 2008 Sammarinese general election. A few years later, voters chose him to join the Grand and General Council in 2012.

After stepping aside during the 2016 Sammarinese general election, he ran again in the 2019 Sammarinese general election and won back his seat. Inside the parliament, he worked on special committees focusing on laws, justice, and government rules.

Serving as Captain Regent

In early 2026, his political group Libera San Marino chose him to become a Captain Regent. San Marino is unique because it always chooses two leaders at the same time to share power. These leaders serve together for terms that last six months. Selva took office on 1 April 2026 and finished his leadership term on 1 October 2026.

Outside of his work in government, Vladimiro Selva enjoys athletic games. When he was younger, he played soccer in the national football league of San Marino.
