Voe is a charming village located on Mainland, the largest island in Shetland, Scotland. It's one of the three main communities in the Delting area. Voe is easy to find because it sits right where two important roads, the A968 and the A970, meet. This makes it a central spot for exploring the beautiful Shetland Islands.

Exploring Voe

Voe is a peaceful place with a rich history, especially linked to the sea. Its location by a small fjord, which is a long, narrow inlet of the sea, makes it very scenic. The village offers a glimpse into the traditional life of the Shetland Islands.

The Sail Loft: A Unique Stay

One of the most interesting buildings in Voe is called the Sail Loft. Long ago, this building was used to store important equipment for fishing boats that used sails. Later, it became a workshop where people made knitwear, which is clothing made from knitted yarn.

Today, the Sail Loft has a new purpose. It is now the biggest "camping böd" managed by the Shetland Amenities Trust. A camping böd is a simple, comfortable place where visitors can stay, similar to a hostel. It's located right by the water, next to a bakery, in a very pretty spot by the pier. The Sail Loft is perfect for larger groups, as it can sleep up to 16 people in two separate rooms. It has a lounge area, common spaces, and a separate kitchen for cooking. It's a great base for anyone wanting to explore the Shetland Islands. The Sail Loft is open for visitors from March 1st to October 31st each year.

This restaurant is known for its delicious home-cooked meals. They also often have special dishes featuring fresh seafood caught locally each day. It's a great spot to enjoy a hearty meal after a day of exploring.
