History of Vossburg
Vossburg is situated along the Norfolk Southern Railway line. This railway was important for transportation and trade in the past. The community officially became an incorporated town in 1900. However, this official status was later removed on March 17, 1904.
In its early days, Vossburg was a busy place. It had an express mail office, which helped send letters and packages quickly. There were also four stores, a church, a school, and a cotton gin. A cotton gin is a machine that separates cotton fibers from their seeds. This was very important for farmers in the area.
The Famous Lithia Spring
Vossburg was also known for a special Lithia spring. People believed the water from this spring had healing powers. The Vossburg Lithia Springs Company, which was based in Gulfport, even advertised the water across the country.
