WTLC-FM (106.7 FM) is a popular radio station that plays urban adult contemporary music. This type of music includes R&B, soul, and hip-hop. The station is located in Greenwood, Indiana, and serves the larger Indianapolis metropolitan area.
WTLC-FM is part of a group of stations owned by Urban One, a major media company. Its sister stations are WTLC (AM), WHHH, and WNOW-FM. They also have a TV station called WDNI-CD. All these stations share their main offices on Meridian Street in downtown Indianapolis. The tower that sends out their radio signal is on the south side of the city.
You can listen to the Rickey Smiley Morning Show on WTLC-FM. This station also broadcasts in HD Radio format, which means you can get a clearer sound if you have an HD Radio.
How WTLC-FM Started
WTLC-FM first began broadcasting in 1968. It has been a part of the Indianapolis radio scene for a long time.
Changes in Frequency and Name
Before it was on 106.7 FM, WTLC-FM used to broadcast on 105.7 FM. Over the years, it had many different names. Some of these names included Soul Stereo FM 105 WTLC and Power 105 WTLC.
In January 2001, Radio One bought the rights to the station's music style and name from another company called Emmis Communications. However, they did not buy the 105.7 FM frequency itself.
Right before this change, the 106.7 FM frequency was known as WBKS. It played urban oldies music and was called "Kiss 106.7." The 106.7 FM station also used to have the call letters WVYJ and WGGR at different times.
