Wabash got its name from a special reason. Many of the first people who settled here came from Indiana. They chose to name their new home after Wabash, Indiana, a city in their home state.
A post office was opened in Wabash in 1886. This was an important place for sending and receiving mail. It served the community for many years. The post office closed its doors in 1965.
