Wabeno is a town located in Forest County, Wisconsin, in the United States. In 2010, about 1,166 people lived there. The area known as Wabeno (a census-designated place) is part of this town. Other small communities like Carter, Padus, and Soperton are also found within the Town of Wabeno.

Wabeno's Location and Size
Wabeno is a pretty big town in terms of land. It covers about 108.3 square miles (280.5 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with only a small part being water, like lakes or rivers.
Who Lives in Wabeno?
In 2000, there were 1,828 people living in Wabeno. The town had 497 households and 341 families. The population density was about 11.8 people per square mile.
Many different people live in Wabeno. About 75% of the people were White, and about 20% were Native American. There were also smaller groups of African American, Asian, and Pacific Islander people. Some residents were also of Hispanic or Latino background.
The age groups in Wabeno are spread out. About 31.6% of the people were under 18 years old. About 14.8% were 65 years or older. The average age in the town was 36 years.

Wabeno has some interesting historical buildings.
- The Chicago and North-Western Land Office is a historic building. Today, it serves as the Wabeno Public Library.
- The Minertown-Oneva area, located in Carter, is a historic mining district.
Learning in Wabeno: Schools and Sports
The Wabeno Area School District welcomes students from several nearby communities. These include Lakewood, Townsend, Carter, Blackwell, and Freedom. The district has one elementary school and one high school.
The school colors for Wabeno are purple and white. Their sports teams are called the Logrollers, and their mascot is Larry the Logroller.
Because there aren't a huge number of students, Wabeno High School often teams up with Laona High School for sports programs. These combined teams are known as the Rebels, and their colors are black and silver. Both the "Roller" and "Rebel" teams compete in the Northern Lakes Conference. Since 2013, all sports from Laona High School have joined with Wabeno's teams.
