Wahtoke (which used to be called Wahtoka) is a small, unincorporated community in Fresno County, California. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live and work, but it's not an official city or town with its own local government. Instead, it's managed by the county.

Where is Wahtoke Located?

Wahtoke is situated in the central part of California. It's about 4.5 miles (or 7.2 kilometers) south-southeast of a place called Centerville. The community sits at an elevation of 361 feet (which is about 110 meters) above sea level. It's also located along the tracks of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad, which is a famous railway system in the United States.

A Glimpse into Wahtoke's History

Wahtoke has a bit of history, especially concerning its communication services. For a period, the community had its own post office. This post office, which was known as the Wahtoka post office at the time, was open and serving the community from 1905 until 1916. Post offices were very important back then for sending letters and packages.
