Wakenda is a small place in Carroll County, Missouri, in the United States. It is called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's managed by the county.

The History of Wakenda

Wakenda was officially planned out in 1869. This process is called "platting." It means someone drew a map showing where streets, lots, and public areas would be. The community got its name from Wakenda Township, which is the larger area it's part of.

A post office opened in Wakenda in 1876. This was an important place for people to send and receive mail. The post office served the community for many years. It finally closed its doors in 1995.
