Waldron is a small village in Hillsdale County, Michigan, in the United States. In 2020, about 505 people lived there. The village is located within Wright Township.

History of Waldron

The first person to settle in this area was Russell Coman. He arrived from New York in 1835. Early settlers wanted to name the community Coman. However, a mistake led to it being called Canaan instead.

In 1844, the community was renamed Wright. This name came from the township it was in. A post office opened in 1855. It was called South Wright because it was in the southern part of the township.

Later, in 1877, parts of the community were officially named Waldron. This new name honored Henry Waldron, a congressman from Hillsdale. He represented the area in the U.S. House of Representatives. Waldron officially became a village in 1905.
