Wall is found in the central part of Texas, within Tom Green County. It is in a region known for its flat lands.
A Look at Wall's Past
The area where Wall is located today was first settled in the mid-1880s. Back then, it had a few different names, like Lipan School and Murray's Store.
How Wall Got Its Name
The community was officially named Wall in 1906. It was named after James Madison Wall Sr. He was a shopkeeper and also served as the first postmaster when the town's post office opened.
Wall as a Trading Spot
Wall became an important trading center for the nearby Lipan Flat region. Farmers and other residents would come to Wall to buy and sell goods.
Population Changes Over Time
- In 1920, about 250 people lived in Wall.
