Walter Slockie (sometimes spelled Slockee) was an amazing Australian rugby league player. He was born in 1903 and passed away in 1961. Walter was an Indigenous Australian athlete who played the sport during the 1920s and 1930s.

He was known for his talent on the field. Walter played as a winger, which is a fast-paced position in rugby league.

Early Life and Talent

Walter Slockie came from Murwillumbah, New South Wales. He was a very skilled rugby league player from a young age. His talent made him stand out.

He often played for the Queensland All Black teams during his career. These teams were made up of top Indigenous players from Queensland. Walter often played alongside another great player, Walter Mussing, who also played for the St. George Dragons.

Playing for St. George

In 1925, Walter Slockie had a short time playing in Sydney. He joined the St. George Dragons team. This team was part of the NSWRFL competition. The NSWRFL was a major rugby league competition in New South Wales.

During his time with the St. George Dragons, Walter played 8 games. He scored 5 tries, which are like touchdowns in American football. This showed his scoring ability.
