Walter de Lindsay (died 1221) was an important Scottish noble who lived a long time ago. He was known as the Lord of several places, including Lamberton in Scotland and Molesworth in England. He also owned land in Fordington and Ulceby. Walter held very important jobs, like Justiciar of Lothian and Sheriff of Berwick.

Walter de Lindsay was the son of William de Lindsay and Aleanora Limesay. He came from the well-known Lindsay family.

His Life and Work

Walter held several important positions during his life. He was the Constable or Sheriff of Berwick. A Sheriff was like a local leader who made sure laws were followed.

He also served as the Justiciar of Lothian. This was a very high-ranking legal job in Scotland, similar to a chief judge. He held this role between the years 1206 and 1215.

In 1215, Walter became a Scottish Ambassador. This meant he represented King Alexander II of Scotland in England. Ambassadors help countries talk to each other.

Later that year, Walter joined some English nobles who were unhappy with King John of England. Because of this, King John took away Walter's lands in Huntingdonshire, England. Walter de Lindsay passed away in 1221.
