Warren Bobrow facts for kids

Warren Bobrow is known as the "Cocktail Whisperer." He is a chef, a writer, and a mixologist, which means he is an expert at creating and mixing drinks. Warren specializes in making drinks with special, high-quality spirits. He has helped design drink menus and ice programs for many bars. He has also worked as a main mixologist for several drink brands, including a rum made in New Jersey.

Early Life and Learning

Warren Bobrow was born in Morristown, New Jersey. He grew up in Morris Township. He went to Montessori School and Gill St. Bernard's School. He finished high school at Morristown-Beard School in 1980.

After high school, Warren studied communications and film at Emerson College in Boston. This was in 1985. He worked in kitchens and later as a television engineer. He also edited videos and was a cameraman for TV stations in New York City. Later, he moved to Portland, Maine, and worked for Maine Public Broadcasting.

Warren also studied cooking at Johnson & Wales University. He opened a fresh pasta company called Olde Charleston Pasta in Charleston, South Carolina. Sadly, a big storm called Hurricane Hugo damaged his factory, and he had to close the company. After working in finance for twenty years, Warren went back to school. He studied food writing at The New School and the French Culinary Institute between 2009 and 2010.

Writing Books and Articles

Warren Bobrow has written six books about making drinks. He has also written many articles for magazines like Saveur, Forbes, and Distiller. He wrote for SoFAB Magazine at the Southern Food and Beverage Museum. He also reviewed restaurants for New Jersey Monthly.

Warren has also helped write for big encyclopedias about food. He taught special classes on rum. He was a judge for rum competitions in 2010 and 2017. He has attended many important cocktail events, like Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans. He was even nominated for an award there. In 2010, Saveur Magazine included him in their "100" list. He also presented at the Berlin Bar Convent in 2019.

Food Festival in France

In 2012, Warren Bobrow traveled to Burgundy, France. He went to a big food festival called La Fête de la Gastronomie. This is France's national food festival. Warren was the only food journalist from the United States to take part in this special event.
