Warrenton is a small community in Johnson Township, Gibson County, Indiana. It is not a city or town with its own government. Warrenton is famous for The Log Inn, which is the oldest restaurant in Indiana. You can find this community right next to where two big roads meet: U.S. 41 and I-64.
History of Warrenton
Warrenton was officially planned out in 1840. This means its streets and lots were drawn on a map. The community was named after Joseph Warren. He was a very important person during the American Revolutionary War, fighting for America's freedom.
A post office opened in Warrenton in 1841. This allowed people to send and receive mail. However, the post office closed down about 15 years later, in 1856.
