A water ball is a giant, clear ball that you can get inside and walk on water! It's also called a water walking ball. Imagine being able to stroll across a lake or a swimming pool without getting wet. That's what these cool balls let you do.

These big, bouncy spheres are usually about two meters (that's about 6.5 feet) wide. They have a special opening with a zipper. This zipper lets you easily get in and out of the ball. Water balls are a bit like zorbs, which are used for rolling down hills. But water balls have only one layer and are made just for fun on the water. In places like the United Kingdom, water balls are used in pools, marinas, and lakes. They are a super fun way to help kids stay active and fit!

How Water Balls Are Made

Most water balls are built from a strong, clear plastic called polyvinyl chloride (PVC). This plastic is usually about 0.8 to 1.0 millimeters thick. Think of it like a tough, flexible sheet.

For colder places or even for use on snow, another material is better. This material is called Thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU). It stays flexible even when it's chilly. Some water balls use a mix of PVC and TPU. The most expensive and durable balls are made completely from 100% TPU.

These fun balls are often made in China. They come in many different sizes. A typical water ball can be folded flat for storage. It weighs about 15 kilograms (around 33 pounds). You can inflate one in less than a minute with a good air pump. Some water balls even have handles inside or outside. This makes them easier to move or hold onto. You can also print cool designs on their surface!
