Watkins is a small, unincorporated community in Ohio, United States. An unincorporated community is a place where people live together, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.

You can find Watkins in Union County, within Mill Creek Township. It is located along Watkins Road, between two important roads: U.S. Route 33 and U.S. Route 42. This community is about five miles east of the city of Marysville.

A Look Back in Time: The History of Watkins

Watkins was officially planned and marked out on a map in the year 1838. It was named after Joseph S. Watkins, who was a government surveyor. Surveyors are people who measure and map land.

A post office for Watkins was opened on March 18, 1840. This meant people in Watkins could send and receive mail right in their community. However, the post office closed its doors on July 31, 1908. Today, mail service for Watkins comes from the Marysville post office.
