Watson Mill State Park

Watson Mill Bridge State Park is a large park in Georgia. It covers 1,018 acres (about 4 square kilometers). You can find it near the towns of Comer and Carlton. The park sits along the South Fork of the Broad River.

The park is famous for the Watson Mill Bridge. This bridge is the longest original-site covered bridge in Georgia. It stretches 229 feet (about 70 meters) across the South Fork River. The bridge was built in 1885. It uses a special design called a "town lattice truss system." This system holds the bridge together strongly with wooden pins. Long ago, Georgia had over 200 covered bridges. Today, only about 20 of them are still standing.

The entire area, including the bridge, is very important. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means it is recognized as a special historical site. The park also has beautiful nature trails. There is even a new trail for hiking and horses. It winds through thick forests and follows the river's edge.
