Waumandee is a small town in Buffalo County, Wisconsin, in the United States. In 2010, about 472 people lived there. A smaller community also called Waumandee is found within the town. There is also a former settlement, a "ghost town" named Anchorage, located here.

What's in a Name? The Story of Waumandee
The name Waumandee comes from a word in the Dakota language. It is an English version of the Dakota word waŋbdi, which means "war eagle."
The town was likely named after a Santee Dakota village leader. This leader was known as both "War Eagle" and "Black Dog." He signed an important agreement called the First Treaty of Prairie du Chien in 1825. His name on the treaty was "Wa-man-de-tun-ka."
