Weekly Reader Publishing was a company in the United States that made learning materials for students. It was around for over 100 years! This company provided teaching tools to schools for young kids and teenagers. More than 90% of schools in the country used their materials.

The most famous product from Weekly Reader was a magazine called Weekly Reader. This magazine was made for specific grade levels. It helped elementary students in over 50,000 schools across the country.

Weekly Reader also created other magazines and learning materials. These were for middle school and high school students. They also made many extra learning tools for kids from Pre-K up to 9th grade. These special products included magazines, workbooks, and activities for classrooms.

The company made sure their materials were right for each age and grade. Their magazines and other products mixed reading, writing, science, math, social studies, and current events. They even included life skills topics. Everything was presented in a "news-style" way.

In 2007, Weekly Reader Corporation joined The Reader's Digest Association. This company was based in Chappaqua, New York. Weekly Reader's main office moved from Stamford, Connecticut, to Chappaqua in May 2007.

Later, in 2012, Scholastic Corporation bought Weekly Reader. Scholastic then stopped publishing the Weekly Reader magazines. The company became part of Scholastic's Scholastic News division.
