Wellsville is a small town, called a borough, located in York County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. In 2020, about 299 people lived there. It's part of the larger York–Hanover area.
Wellsville's History
The town of Wellsville looks a lot like it did in the 1800s! Many of its buildings have stayed the same. You can still see old brick sidewalks. The houses are built in styles like Gothic Revival and Greek Revival. These are types of architecture that were popular a long time ago.
Because so much of the town is well-preserved, almost all of Wellsville was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. This means it's a special area recognized for its history. The "Wellsville Historic District" includes 48 important buildings.
- One building is an 1850s Methodist church.
- There are also several old shops from the 1800s.
- The Wellsville House, built in the 1870s, has been many things. It was once a factory, then a museum, and even a restaurant!
