The Welsh Cider and Perry Festival is a fun event held every year at Caldicot Castle in Monmouthshire, Wales. It celebrates cider and perry, which are drinks made from fermented fruit juice. Cider is made from apples, and perry is made from pears.

About the Festival

This festival started in 2001 and happens every May. It's a great place to learn about and try different ciders and perries. You need to buy a ticket to enter.

Where and When It Happens

The festival was created by members of the Welsh Perry and Cider Society. It used to be held near Abergavenny. In 2013, it moved to the beautiful Caldicot Castle. The festival lasts for four days and welcomes about 3,000 visitors each year.

What You Can Find There

The festival offers a huge selection of drinks, with about 120 different ciders and 35 perries. In 2018, it even featured drinks from other countries like England, Ireland, Scotland, France, and the Czech Republic.

Workshops and Competitions

You can join special workshops to learn how cider and perry are made. The festival also hosts the yearly Welsh Perry & Cider Championships. Expert judges taste the drinks to find the best one. The winner is named the Champion Cider or Perry Maker of Wales!

Fun for Everyone

Besides the drinks, the festival has live music and craft stalls. There's entertainment all day long. If you want to stay overnight, you can camp right at the castle. There are spots for tents, caravans, and motorhomes.
