Wendy Mass grew up in Livingston, New Jersey. From a young age, she loved to read and learn about science. She spent a lot of time at town libraries and bookstores.

As a child, Wendy enjoyed friendly reading competitions with her friends. This helped her become a strong writer. Her first big dream was to become an astronaut. She even wrote a funny story with her siblings about a cat that turned into a goat!

In high school, Wendy continued to work at a local bookstore. She also took writing classes. It was then that she decided to make writing her career.

Wendy studied English at Tufts University. She focused on writing short stories during her college years. After graduating, she moved to Los Angeles to explore different writing jobs.
