Early Days and the Post Office
In 1837, a post office was opened in West Franklin. This was a very important service for the people living there. It allowed them to send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years. It finally closed its doors in 1902.
How the Railroad Changed Things
Over time, a new railroad line was built nearby. This railroad brought more business and activity to a different town called Caborn. Because of this, many businesses and people started to move away from West Franklin. As a result, the number of people living in West Franklin slowly became smaller.
