West Lima is a small, unincorporated community located in Richland County, Wisconsin, in the United States. An unincorporated community is a place that does not have its own local government, but is still part of a larger county or town. West Lima is found at the meeting point of County Highway A and County Highway D.

West Lima's Past

Long ago, West Lima was a busy place. It had about 700 people living there. The community had many important buildings and businesses.

  • A hotel for teachers
  • A brick schoolhouse, built in 1920
  • A post office
  • A factory that made cheese
  • Blacksmiths, who worked with metal
  • Two milliners, who made hats
  • A flour mill, for grinding grain
  • A furniture store
  • A hardware store

By the early 1990s, many of these buildings were empty and falling apart.

Dreamtime Village Today

In 1991, a group called Xexoxial Endarchy, Ltd. bought some of the old buildings in West Lima. This group is a non-profit organization focused on arts and education. They created a special community there called Dreamtime Village.

The old hotel, which had eight rooms and a kitchen, became a home for people who live there all the time. It also offers a place for visitors to stay. Famous guests like Patch Adams and Peter Lamborn Wilson have visited Dreamtime Village. Even with Dreamtime Village, many other people who are not part of the community still live in West Lima.
