The Western Hotel: A Historic Stay
The Western Hotel has been a part of Ouray's history for over 130 years. When it was built, Ouray was a busy mining town. The hotel provided a place for travelers and miners to stay. Its location near the railroad station made it easy for people to arrive and depart.
A Look Back in Time
The Western Hotel welcomed its first guests in 1892. It was built using wood, which was a common building material back then. Many buildings from that time were made of wood. However, not many wooden hotels from the 1880s are still around today. This makes The Western Hotel a rare and important example of old architecture.
