The Western League of Professional Baseball Clubs was a baseball league in the United States. It was also known simply as the Western League. This league was a type of minor league baseball. It started on February 11, 1885. The league mainly played in the Midwestern United States.

The Western League existed in different forms over the years. Its most famous version began in November 1893. The league was first created as a minor league on February 11, 1885.
Original Teams
The first teams in the Western League were from several cities. These cities included Indianapolis and Kansas City. Other original teams were in Cleveland and Milwaukee. There were also teams from Toledo and Omaha/Keokuk, Iowa.
