Westlife is a famous Irish boy band that started in 1998. The original members were Shane Filan, Kian Egan, Nicky Byrne, Mark Feehily, and Brian McFadden. Brian McFadden left the band on March 9, 2004, to spend more time with his family.
Westlife became very popular around the world, especially in Europe, Canada, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Australia. While they were huge in many places, their success in America was smaller. Their first song, "Swear It Again," did reach number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2000.
In October 2011, Westlife announced they would split up in 2012. They held their final concert in Dublin, Ireland, in 2012. Tickets for this last show sold out incredibly fast, in just five minutes! However, the band later reunited in 2018.
