Westmount Square (French: Square Westmount) is a large group of buildings in Westmount, Quebec, Canada. It has homes, offices, and even shops underground. You can find it near Saint Catherine Street and De Maisonneuve Boulevard. It is also connected to the Atwater Metro station by an underground tunnel.

Discover Westmount Square
Westmount Square is a cool place with different kinds of buildings. It has two apartment buildings where people live. There are also two office buildings for businesses. All these buildings sit on top of an underground shopping area. This shopping area has about 35 different stores.
How Westmount Square Was Built
A famous architect named Ludwig Mies van der Rohe designed Westmount Square. He used a style called the International style. This style often uses simple, clean lines and lots of glass.
Building work started in 1964. The whole complex opened on December 13, 1967. The outside walls are made of black metal and dark glass windows. It looks a bit like the Lake Shore Drive Apartments in Chicago.
The Buildings of Westmount Square
Westmount Square has four main towers.
- One office building, called Tower 1, has 22 floors. It stands about 83 meters (272 feet) tall.
- Another office building, Tower 4 Pavilion, has 2 floors. It used to be the Eastern Airlines Building.
- The two apartment buildings each have 21 floors. They are about 69 meters (226 feet) tall.
Shopping and More
The underground shopping area at Westmount Square is a busy place. It has many small shops and art galleries. About one-third of this space is used for private health clinics. In 1990, skylights were added to the roof of the shopping area. These let natural light into the underground space.
