History of Wewanta
The name "Wewanta" is quite unique and interesting! It actually came from a funny story. People living in the area really wanted a post office nearby. They needed a place to send and receive mail easily.
So, they sent a request or a "petition" to get one. The name "Wewanta" came from their simple request: "We want a post office!"
The Wewanta post office first opened its doors in 1903. It served the local residents for many years. However, it eventually closed down in 1947.
