History of Whispering Pines
Whispering Pines began as a fun place for people to visit in the 1930s. A family named Strickler created it as a resort. A resort is a place where people go for holidays and relaxation.
The Strickler family built many of the buildings themselves. They even made a swimming pool that was filled with water from a natural spring. They also built a store for the community. A post office, where people could send and receive mail, operated from this store. It was open from 1935 until 1962.
In September 2015, a large wildfire known as the Valley Fire affected the area. Much of the community experienced significant damage from this event.
