About the White-Spectacled Bulbul
This bird is very common in some areas. It is the most common bulbul in Israel and Lebanon. In Turkey, you will mostly see them near the coast. Their home range stretches far. It goes from western Turkey to eastern Turkey.
They also live in other countries. These include Syria, Jordan, Palestine, and Sinai. You can also find them in parts of Arabia.
What They Look Like
Both male and female white-spectacled bulbuls look alike. It can be hard to tell them apart. Young birds, called juveniles, look a bit different. Their head feathers are browner. Their eye-rings are also less clear than adult birds.
Their Homes and Babies
White-spectacled bulbuls build their nests carefully. The nest is like a small cup. They use thin twigs, grass, leaves, and moss. They usually place their nests in bushes.
Inside the nest, they add soft materials. These include hair, shredded bark, and small roots. This makes a cozy home for their eggs and chicks.
Bulbul Family and Relatives
The white-spectacled bulbul is part of a larger group. Scientists call this a "superspecies." This means it's closely related to several other bulbul types.
Some of its relatives include the Himalayan bulbul and the white-eared bulbul. Other family members are the African red-eyed bulbul, Cape bulbul, and common bulbul. They all share similar features.
