WhiteWater World is an exciting water park located in Coomera on the Gold Coast, Australia. It's owned by Ardent Leisure and is like a sister park to Dreamworld, which is right next door!

This awesome park opened its doors on 8 December 2006, after a year of building. It cost about A$56 million to create! When it first opened, it had ten cool attractions, all themed around Australian beach culture. Some of these included The Green Room, Super Tubes Hydrocoaster, The Rip, The BRO, Temple of Huey, Cave of Waves, Wiggle Bay, and Pipeline Plunge. Since then, even more slides have been added, like The Little Rippers, The Wedgie, and Triple Vortex.

Discovering WhiteWater World's Past

How the Park Was Built

In 2004, the company that owned Dreamworld started planning a new water park right next to it. They wanted to find the most thrilling water rides! The park's CEO, Stephen Gregg, and a special projects manager, Bob Tan, traveled the world to get ideas. Tan even said the first ideas for the park were sketched on a napkin in a cafe in the US!

On 28 November 2005, the company announced they would spend $56 million on the new water park. Construction started soon after, in January 2006. By June, two of the three tall slide towers were already finished. One month later, the park announced some of its exciting new rides. By October, all the planned attractions were revealed.

WhiteWater World opened earlier than expected on 8 December 2006. It started with ten attractions, including some Australian and even world firsts! The Rip and Super Tubes Hydrocoaster were the first of their kind in Australia. The BRO was a world first, and The Green Room was Australia's biggest Tornado slide at the time. In its first six months, the park welcomed over 247,000 visitors!

WhiteWater World was very popular right from the start. In its first year, it had over 493,000 guests, which was more than they expected! The park continued to do well, with even more visitors in 2008.

WhiteWater World is known for being very water-efficient. This means it uses water wisely and has environmentally friendly technology.

New Rides and Expansions

In September 2007, the park added two new rides called The Little Rippers. These are a pair of fun ProSlide Cannon Bowls. The park also planned to add a 25-meter tall tower with three new water slides, a lazy river, and a big water play area. These plans were approved but were delayed for a while.

In 2010, WhiteWater World announced a new ride called The Wedgie. It opened on 1 April 2011 and was the first ride in Australia to have a trap door release! It was marketed as Australia's first looping water slide.

In 2011, the children's area called Nickelodeon's Pipeline Plunge was renamed simply Pipeline Plunge.

In September 2014, the park added 'Triple Vortex', a cool two-person tube slide with three funnels.

In 2019, the park announced a $7-million investment for a new slide complex called 'Fully 6'. This new attraction has six new body slides with cool light effects. Construction for 'Fully 6' began with plans to open in late 2019. This investment also included repainting and fixing up the park's other rides.

Exciting Attractions to Explore

WhiteWater World has many thrilling water slides, a huge wave pool, and special areas for younger kids. You can also find places to eat, shops, a surf school, and shaded spots to relax. The park has three main slide towers, with rides grouped by how exciting they are. All the attractions have an Australian beach theme.

Super Tubes Hydrocoaster and The Green Room at WhiteWater World

The slide tower near the entrance has the park's most thrilling slides:

  • The Wedgie is a body slide where you stand on a trap door that opens, sending you down a nearly vertical 17-meter drop! You then go through a fast turn and can reach speeds of almost 45 km/h. It was the first ProSlide SuperLOOP in the world.
  • The Green Room lets four people ride a cloverleaf-shaped tube through a 66-meter tunnel. Then you drop 17 meters into a big funnel where you swing back and forth before splashing down.
  • Super Tubes Hydrocoaster is a unique ride where three people sit on a raft that uses magnets to go up hills! You experience steep drops and then get pushed up inclines by magnets, ending in a splash pool. It's Australia's only water coaster.
The Bro WhiteWater World
The BRO is located on the southern border of the park and was the world's first ProSlide 8-lane Octopus Racer.

The second slide tower has rides that are still exciting but a bit less intense:

  • The Rip has four people ride a cloverleaf-shaped tube down a dark tunnel before entering a huge, open bowl. You circle the bowl before dropping through the center into a splash pool. It's the only ProSlide Behemoth Bowl in Australia.
  • The BRO (Blue Ringed Octopus) is a racing slide with eight 120-meter long lanes. From a height of 16 meters, you lie on a mat and slide headfirst down a spiral tunnel. You then race side-by-side with others to the finish, reaching speeds of up to 50 km/h in just 24 seconds! When it opened, The BRO was the biggest ProSlide Octopus Racer in the world.
  • Triple Vortex was added to this tower in 2014. Two riders slide down an enclosed tube with three funnels, like smaller versions of The Green Room's funnel.
Cyclone WWW interaction
The slide tower housing The Temple of Huey and the Little Rippers is located within the footprint of Dreamworld's Cyclone roller coaster.

The slide tower in the southeast part of the park has five slides that offer a milder thrill. Some of these slides even go near Dreamworld's Cyclone roller coaster!

  • The Little Rippers are two racing cannon bowl slides. You can ride alone or with a friend in a two-person tube. You drop steeply into a bowl, then exit through the center.
  • The Temple of Huey includes three slides: Broken Headz, Cut Snake, and Screamin Right Handers. You can ride in a single or double tube. Broken Headz and Cut Snake are enclosed slides, while Screamin Right Handers is an open slide.

There are also three family-friendly attractions on the ground level, separate from the tall slide towers:

  • Pipeline Plunge is a children's area with four flume slides and tons of water activities. It's a big, multi-level water play structure with a 1000-liter tipping bucket that dumps water on guests every few minutes!
  • Wiggle Bay is a Wiggles-themed area for toddlers. It has musical and interactive water play, a shallow pool, and four Wiggles-colored water slides.
  • The Cave of Waves is a themed 2685 square meter wave pool that can make waves up to 1.5 meters high! The pool is always kept at a warm 26 degrees Celsius. You can even take surf lessons here when the park is closed.
