Whulandary Herman (born on June 26, 1987) is a famous Indonesian actress, TV personality, and model. She also won a beauty pageant title. In 2013, she was crowned Puteri Indonesia 2013. This meant she got to represent her country at the Miss Universe 2013 competition. There, she made it into the top 16 finalists. She was the second person from Indonesia and Sumatra to reach the Miss Universe finals. The first was Artika Sari Devi in 2005.

Early Life and First Steps
Whulandary Herman grew up in Pariaman, a city in West Sumatra, Indonesia. She finished high school in Padang. After that, she moved to Jakarta in 2007. In Jakarta, she started her career as a model. She also continued her education, studying communication. Her modeling career really took off after she joined a competition called Wajah Femina in 2008.

Modeling and Beauty Training
Whulandary started representing Indonesia in international modeling contests. She competed in Wajah Femina 2008, a contest by Femina Indonesia Magazine. She finished as the first runner-up. In 2010, she won the Asian Top Model of The Year award in Seoul, South Korea. She beat three other models from Vietnam, China, and Mongolia. A year before that, in 2008-2009, she won 3rd Runner-Up and "The Best Catwalk" at the International Top Model of the World in Berlin, Germany.
In 2013, Whulandary walked the runway at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. This big fashion event was held in Moscow, Russia. She showcased designs from Tony Ward Couture. From 2013 to 2016, she also walked in New York Fashion Week. She was chosen as a brand ambassador for TRESemmé Indonesia. She also modeled for famous designers like Anniesa Hasibuan and Michael Kors. Whulandary also regularly appeared at Jakarta Fashion Week and Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week.
In 2016, Whulandary and Artika Sari Devi, another Miss Universe finalist, opened a special place. It was called the "ArtikaWhulandary Beauty Camp." This camp helps Indonesian women improve their skills for beauty pageants. The idea for this camp started back in 2013.
Helping Others and Good Deeds
Whulandary Herman cares a lot about helping people. Since she won Miss Universe Indonesia, she has worked to raise awareness for important health issues. These include HIV AIDS awareness, Breast Cancer, and childhood cancer. She works through her foundation, Yayasan Sentuhan Kasih Anak Indonesia. This means "A Touch of Love for Indonesian Children Foundation."
This group helps children with cancer and women with Breast Cancer. Whulandary works with doctors from many hospitals across Indonesia. They help families of children with cancer get better access to care. This includes therapies, mental health information, and daily food.
In 2016, she teamed up with Estée Lauder Companies. They created a campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness month in Indonesia. The campaign encouraged people to "Take Action Together to Defeat Breast Cancer." This yearly global program helps cancer survivors through education and fundraising. The campaign received a lot of support from the President of Yayasan Kanker Indonesia.
On July 18, 2018, the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, asked Whulandary to do something special. She performed a traditional Piring dance. She wore a beautiful Minangkabau dress. This was for the opening ceremony of the 2018 Asian Games torch relay in Central Java, Indonesia.
Beauty Pageant Journey
Puteri Indonesia 2012–2013
Whulandary Herman is 1.77 meters tall. She represented the West Sumatera province in the Puteri Indonesia contest. She competed against 37 other contestants from 33 provinces. In the end, she won the title of Puteri Indonesia 2013. She was the second person from the Minangkabau group to win this title. The first was Melanie Putria in 2002. Both represented West Sumatra. Whulandary was crowned by the previous winner, Maria Selena Nurcahya. She was crowned alongside other queens: Marisa Sartika Maladewi, Cok Istri Krisnanda Widani, and Novia Indriani Mamuaja.
Miss Universe 2013
As the winner of Puteri Indonesia 2013, Whulandary represented Indonesia at Miss Universe 2013. She became the second Indonesian woman to reach the semifinals. The first was Artika Sari Devi in 2005. Whulandary finished in the Top 16, placing 11th overall. During the swimsuit part of the competition, she wore a one-piece swimsuit. She was one of only two finalists to do so. She also won 3rd Runner-Up for Best National Costume.
Acting Roles
Whulandary Herman also started acting. She appeared in an Indonesian drama film called Bidadari Terakhir. This movie was directed by Awi Suryadi. She was nominated for an award for Best New Actress at the 2015 Maya Awards. She ended up winning that award!
